Ask your MP to help improve rules on local energy markets

How you can help

Our Energy Local clubs have been UK pioneers of a form of local energy market - lowering bills, increasing renewable generators' income, reducing electricity network congestion and empowering communities.

For some time, our founder Dr Mary Gillie has been working to help clarify UK electricity trading rules and make it easier to set up local energy markets (by leading the proposed P441 modification to the Balancing and Settlement Code).

Now we need your help to get decision makers to make this a priority!

If you want to play a role in making this change happen, please write to your MP by adapting the draft letter attached below, also including the two-page briefing paper which explains more.

For people in Wales, where many of our clubs are based, we have also attached Welsh language versions should you wish to use those instead/as well.

 Coming up

We've also been working with Community Energy Wales on developing a larger campaign which we hope will also involve Community Energy Scotland and Community Energy England, so please keep a look out for their campaigning over the next few weeks and show your support in any way you can.

Over the coming months, we will also keep you posted on a public consultation on the P441 modification, which will be a great opportunity to back these changes.

We're grateful for your support!
