Our Energy Local goals for 2024!
We are kicking off 2024 with a plan of our intentions for the year ahead.
1. Grow Our Energy Local Club community – We want to foster connections and communication among Clubs across the UK and expand our membership so that more communities can benefit from local renewable power.
2. Show how communities can benefit and reduce costs for our electricity systems – Our Clubs are a testament to the positive social impacts of community energy and we are keen to demonstrate the value of this in an equitable net zero transition.
3. Develop community heat networks using local renewables – We are working on a number of projects aiming to support wider decarbonisation measures by creating a financial, social and environmental case for community heat networks.
Welcome to our new team member Tom
This month we are welcoming Tom to the Energy Local team.
He will be joining as our Junior Software Engineer, supporting the development of our dashboard and helping club members with any queries. His background is in mechanical engineering and he was inspired to join because of his admiration for our mission and his desire to grow as a programmer.
We are very lucky to have him join the team!
Sheffield Community Energy Event and Open Call

Sheffield Community Energy is a new community energy group just setting out and they are holding a conference on 16th March focused on energy sharing. They are looking for Energy Local members to share their experience on getting started and being part of a club.
You can find out more about the event and sign up here.
Shining a Light ...
“It might not be Summer anymore, but the sun is certainly shining here at Energy Local. It wasn’t that long ago that solar energy used to be considered a niche source of power – not anymore! Today it is a sustainable, practical and popular choice.
Improving attitudes and accessibility to solar panels opens up opportunities for Energy Local Clubs, including using excess household PV in the club's generation.”
