Ynni Lleol Gwyrfai Area (Waunfawr Sub-Station Catchment)

Energy Local Gwyrfai is a community-led club that enables you to source your energy from – and contribute to – locally generated hydro supply and our plans for new community solar generation.

By matching local energy demand to local generation, the club offers households and small businesses the chance to pay less for power, while helping to build a resilient, environmentally-conscious energy network that benefits your pocket, your community and your planet. 

Membership Requirements

We’re initially seeking 40 households and small businesses to become founding members of Energy Local Gwyrfai. 
Prospective members must:

  1. have premises located within the Waunfawr Electricity Substation area (see map above)
     
  2. have a smart meter (or be happy for one to be installed)
     
  3. be able to switch energy supplier to our partner 100Green (we will help you with switching!)
     
  4. accept the higher 100Green tariff for electricity supplies at times when sufficient locally generated power at 15p/kwh is not available
     
  5. be patient PLEASE, as Energy Local Gwyrfai is getting up and running!

Club Charges

The fees below are included in your monthly bill.
Club and Energy Local membership fee
£0.67 per month
This fee covers the running costs of the Club which may include printing, AGM and accounting costs plus some admin costs for Energy Local to facilitate Clubs.
Supplier admin fee
£5 per month
This fee is charged by the supplier for administering each member of the club.

Initial Electricity Charges

The Flat Tariff applies for an initial period from when you switch to the new supplier until your premises has been added to the Club. If you don't have a smart meter you will be on the Flat Tariff until you have one installed and can be added to the Club (typically two months).
