Greenhoe
Not in this area? Please go to our list of clubs to see if there's one where you are.
Energy Local Greenhoe is the first Energy Local club to be established in Norfolk. It's a community focussed project that, by helping you match your electricity use with power from local renewable generators, will enable you to take control of your electricity bills and reduce your carbon footprint, all while supporting local renewable energy and keeping value on the local area. There are lots of answers to common questions on the Energy Local Website.
The club covers communities connected to UK Power Network's 'Egmere primary' electrical substation and incorporates the parishes of Stiffkey, Warham, Wighton, parts of Walsingham (Egmere and Westgate) and Wells-Next-The-Sea as well as Brant Hill, New Holkham and Cockthorpe. This 'catchment area' is shown on the above map but if you're unsure if your property is within this area, please complete the form to register your interest (can be reached using the big green "Join Energy Local Greenhoe" button above!) and we'll be in touch to let you know if you're in the area or not.
The Club you'll join is made up of members of your community, including both users and generators of electricity. To access member tariffs, you’ll need to have a free smart meter fitted in your home that will record not only how much electricity you're using but also when when you’re using in - helping you to buy power in a better way. Club members will also need to switch to our partner Supplier '100Green' to access local club tariffs. Don't worry, we'll be there to answer your questions and support you through the whole process.
We're at the early stages of setting up the club and so are not yet able to confirm our tariffs. So please, press the big green "Join Energy Local Greenhoe" button above (there are no obligations or commitments at this stage) and you'll be the first to hear when our tariffs have been set. We're hoping to be supplying green electricity from a farm biogas-powered generator as well as from at least one solar photovoltaic generator in the area. As our generators come on board and if we have other news to share, we'll be sending out updates to everyone that's expressed an interest in the club through this site.
This project is supported by the Sheringham Shoal Community Fund, delivered by Norfolk Community Foundation and funded by the Sheringham Shoal Offshore Wind Farm, operated by Equinor.
