Welcome to Energy Local Moretonhampstead (E.L.M.)

Community led, locally made sustainable energy for local people - not just for Moreton but from Widecombe to North Bovey and on to Dunsford and in fact any of the surrounding areas connected to the Moreton substation. So, If you’re a local household or a small business looking for clean, green local energy and would like to explore the potential  to save on your electricity bills, then read on! 
By joining our Not for Profit local energy club (E.L.M.), you’ll be able to use renewable, locally generated energy produced right here by the Sowton Weir turbine over in the stunning Teign valley. We’ll help you to use your electricity more intelligently to reduce your costs and you can feel good that your energy is fossil fuel free, local and renewable.

We can power up to 120 users and are actively seeking households and small businesses to become founding members of Energy Local Moretonhampstead (E.L.M). It is also possible to join as generator as well as a recipient of local electricity. 100% biogas is also available by request.

Prospective members need to;

1. have premises within the Moretonhampstead Electricity Substation area (click interactive map or see map below)
    
2. have a smart meter (or be happy for one to be installed)
    
3. be able to switch energy supplier to our partner, 100Green. This is usually by being either out of contract with your current supplier (or not tied in) or willing to pay an exit fee to your current supplier (only if required by that company)
    
4. be prepared to accept a tariff with 100Green that, when locally generated power is not being used, may be higher than some domestic tariffs (although this may not impact our members often considering the consistent electricity supply from Sowton Weir Hydro).
