We are Welcoming Pioneer Members to Energy Local Fairy Hill
Fairy Hill is a 2MW Solar Farm set up by Bath and West Community Energy (BWCE), a not-for-profit Community Energy Organisation founded in 2010 by a group of community minded local people, concerned about the environment.
We believe the Future of Energy is Local!
By this we mean local householders being able to benefit from clean electricity, generated locally, at a fair price and with additional financial benefit remaining within the local community.
By matching local energy demand to local generation, the club offers households and small businesses the opportunity to make savings on their electricity bills. In addition to the potential savings that householders and small businesses could make there will also be:
Environmental impact: Reducing carbon emissions through clean electricity generation, and a 20% improvement of biodiversity on the solar farm site to include a community orchard and permissive access to the local surrounding land.
Community benefit: As a not-for-profit community business we pass on our surplus income to local community projects. Since 2015, BWCE has invested £470,000 into the BWCE Fund, benefiting 119 local community projects with initiatives to reduce carbon emissions, waste and supporting people in fuel poverty. Local Community Groups in the area can also apply to the Fund.
We are currently inviting pioneer members to join our Energy Local Club. If you haven’t already talked to BWCE, or have further questions and want to understand more about the process before joining please contact communityrenewables@bwce.coop
