I am interested in joining Energy Local Settle

Introduction: ACE Settle and area's energy group are setting up Settle Energy Local Club following the creation of a Local Area Energy Plan in 2023. The club will be made up of consumers, generators and consumer/generator members and will use as much locally generated renewable energy as possible within the Club area shown on the map below. You can assess your own roof's potential for solar PV panels using this interactive map commissioned by ACE as part of the Local Area Energy Plan

Settle Map - 25.1.24

Do you have solar panels or are you thinking of installing some? We will be using electricity generated from solar panels in the first years of the club, seeking to add some wind power in the future. If you have panels you may want to join as a consumer/generator. If you are thinking about installing solar panels have a look at our online solar survey to see how suitable your roof could be and if that looks promising consider getting a quote from a reputable installer.

Club launch: we have registered with the Financial Conduct Authority and aim to launch the club during 2024, once we have confirmed the first electricity generator(s).

Interested in joining the Club? We are looking for people to take part in the initial group. To be a member you will:

  • need to live in the Settle, Giggleswick and Langcliffe electricity substation area which is the Settle Energy Local Club area (see map above).
  • be able to switch supplier to 100Green (formally Green Energy UK) and accept their "deep green" tariff.  When you are not using locally-generated electricity this may be higher at certain times than typical standard domestic tariffs. Look at the details of the Match Tariff and Time Of Use Tariffs when they become available (see below).
  • have a smart meter (or be happy for one to be installed).

and to gain the most benefit you should consider shifting some of your peak electricity demand to times in the day when the sun is shining, at which times you will be eligible for the cheaper club rate.

(N.B. You should not be spending more than 10% of your income on energy bills or be in fuel poverty. This is a pilot scheme, so we are looking to test the Energy Local concept locally to make sure it saves people money before we can roll it out on a larger scale).

What next? Register your 'expression of interest' in joining the club by clicking on the 'I am interested' button below. This will not commit you to anything and you can withdraw at anytime.
