Isles of Scilly
I am interested in joining Energy Local Isles of Scilly
Energy Local Scilly: Our club enables locally generated renewable energy to be bought by local domestic customers at a fair price.
The Isles of Scilly Community Venture CIC (IOSCV) are setting up Energy Local Scilly. To start with the IOSCV will be the “generator” using renewable electricity from the Airport Solar Garden but will be seeking to add more local renewable energy in the future.
Interested in joining the Club? We are looking for a small group of early adopters to take part initially, as a member of the club, you will be able to benefit from lower-cost locally generated solar power while helping Scilly to become more sustainable.
To be a member you will:
- Need to be an Isles of Scilly resident
- Be able to switch supplier to 100Green.
- Have a smart meter (or be happy for one to be installed).
- Need to understand that to gain the most benefit you should be able to shift some of your electricity demand to times in the day when the sun is shining and the cheaper club rate is available.
- Be prepared to accept a 'deep green' tariff with 100Green, which is higher at times than some standard domestic tariffs, when you are not using locally generated electricity.
Understand this is a pilot scheme, so we are looking to test the Energy Local concept to make sure it saves people money before we can roll it out on a larger scale.
What next? Should you wish to get involved or simply find out more please register your 'expression of interest' by clicking on the 'I am interested' button below. This will not commit you to anything.
Tariff:
Members of the Club who use power when the Airport Solar Garden is making electricity will be charged a lower unit price - known as a “match price”.
When insufficient power is being generated by the Solar Garden to meet the needs of club members (e.g. after dark), you will receive a “time of use tariff” (TOUT), this varies depending on the time of day
This project is part-funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. Cornwall Council has been chosen by Government as a Lead Authority for the fund and is responsible for monitoring the progress of projects funded through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
