Join South-East Birmingham Energy Local Club
In February, Acocks Greener will set up ‘South-East Birmingham Energy Local Club’ as a co-op to make best use of our locally generated electricity. There will be 3 groups of Members:
- Homes with solar PV panels on their roof
- Organisations with large roof-top solar PV arrays (for example: businesses, schools, public / community and religious buildings, sports halls, etc)
- Households not using their heating because of the cost (spending more than a tenth of their income on energy bills) - these members are not required to have solar PV.
We are working with Energy Local CIC www.energylocal.org.uk who have set up about 18 similar clubs around UK, but we will be potentially the largest and most urban.
SEBrum Energy Local Co-op will enable you to:
- Buy other Members’ surplus electricity - at a better price than from your current energy provider.
- If you have solar PV panels on your roof, get a better price for any surplus electricity you generate.
- Help people in energy poverty.
- Keep the profits from locally generated electricity here within the city, for use by our local not-for-profit co-op.
- Consider installing solar PV panels on your roof - to get free electricity and sell the surplus.
The Co-op is being set up by Acocks Greener CIC www.acocksgreener.com and Fox Hollies Forum https://foxholliesforum.com Acocks Greener can give you advice and support on reducing your energy use and costs, improving your comfort and health.
